(LIMA, OH) On October 9, 2012, Environmental Specialists of Allied Environmental Services, Inc. (Allied) addressed the West Central Ohio Safety Council (WCOSC) at a monthly meeting in Lima, Ohio. Topics included the safe and proper management of lead and lead-based paint, asbestos building materials, and mercury and mercury-containing devices.

Allied CEO Steve Carr provided instruction on asbestos management and regulatory requirements. Keith Boyd, a certified Lead Risk Assessor, provided similar training on lead issues, while Joel Hogue presented instruction on common mercury hazards. “We’re always happy to volunteer time to groups like the WCOSC”, stated Carr. “We enjoy sharing our expertise and we are honored that the WCOSC would ask us to speak to its members. It’s all about being safe and managing hazards the right way”, he added.

The WCOSC is an organization co-sponsored by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, Division of Safety & Hygiene and the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce. The goal of Safety Council is to increase awareness and the importance of safety to area businesses and the community.
